Spring and its fruits

We have just inaugurated one of the most explosive seasons of the year. Spring started on 20 March and it did so in our country with cloudy skies and fields finally receiving some much-needed water. But as the saying goes, after the storm comes the calm and with it a time when the landscape is filled with flowers and colours.

As nature is reborn and awakening from its winter slumber, the typical fruits of the season are coming to our markets.  A whole range of succulent options that we at EDYPRO wanted to bring together in this post, because you know that we love to make the most of seasonal products.

  • Avocado. Fruit and vegetables in one product. Avocados contain multiple vitamins and are a great nutritional source of potassium. Their exquisite and mild flavour makes them suitable for combining with any food. But this fruit is also used in beauty treatments.
  • Lemon. Known as the ‘medicine food’ thanks to its powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, they are a great source of vitamin C.  They help to combat hypertension and cardiovascular problems as well as counteract stress and fatigue. As if all this were not enough, you can use it as a disinfectant, multi-purpose cleaner, deodorant, whitener or repellent, among many other uses.
  • Strawberries. As well as being beautiful to look at, they are rich in fibre, antioxidants and vitamins. They are usually used in confectionery but also in cosmetics and medicine.
  • Mango. Tropical fruit rich in potassium, antioxidant vitamins, fibre, magnesium or vitamin E. Delicious flavour with multiple uses in cooking. In addition to its rich intake, mangoes help to prevent degenerative diseases.
  • Orange. Famous for being rich in vitamin C, it also contains folic acid, potassium, magnesium and flavonoids. It is a great cardiovascular ally and also helps to combat anaemia, among many other qualities.
  • Banana. An energetic fruit used in many dishes, especially desserts. Rich and nutritious, bananas prevent fluid retention and regulate high blood pressure.
  • Grapefruit. It helps us to keep diseases such as diabetes or insulin levels at bay thanks to the fact that it is made up of 90% water. A cardio-healthy fruit, rich in vitamin A and C.
  • Kiwi. A fruit that is more than complete, it contains high levels of potassium and fibre and a high percentage of Vitamin C.  It helps with digestion and combats anaemia while improving blood circulation.
  • Loquat. Of innumerable benefits for our health. This fruit is diuretic, satiating, anti-diarrhoeic, anti-acid, digestive, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory among others.
  • Plum. Rich in water (83%) and fibre (2%) and carbohydrates (11%). Its nutritional composition makes it a purifying, refreshing, energetic and invigorating food, capable of combating tiredness and stimulating the nervous system.
  • Date. Considered an exotic fruit, it is often used in pastry-related preparations, but also in starter dishes such as dates with cream cheese. Its multifaceted use is due to its sweet flavour, which is also very nutritious for the organism.

As the months go by, more fruits will be added to this already extensive list. That is why, as spring starts the countdown to the arrival of summer, fruits are getting bigger and juicier. Something that will come in handy as temperatures rise, as this extra supply of water is just what we need. We are talking about products such as peaches, melons, cherries, apricots, pineapple and watermelon.  As you can see, at this time of year the orchards offer us a large number of seasonal fruits and EDYPRO is delighted to be able to contribute, through our products, to ensuring that these spring crops reach your home with the highest quality.
