Orri is a high quality and competitive mandarin variety compared to other hybrid mandarin varieties. EDYPRO has spent years researching this variety and looking for the most suitable treatments in order to be able to offer management advice and the application of products that get the most out of this variety’s crops.
Last Friday, 28th January, we held a field day to which we invited technicians and farmers to present all these aspects and to show them, first hand, how EDYPRO biotechnology obtains fantastic results on this variety.
A total of 4 Orri fields and one Lamb Hass avocado field were visited and at each of these points Vicente Puchol, manager and technical director of EDYPRO, explained one stage of the management in detail, showing the results that could be seen on the trees.
The first stop, at ‘La Barraca’, served to put this variety in context and to explain why its specific handling is key to its success.
The group then moved on to Juan José Vidal’s estate where Vicente Puchol explained the necessary actions to start the crop cycle in optimum conditions to ensure optimal sprouting and fruit set. These two aspects are fundamental to achieve a successful and high quality harvest.
After a visit to an avocado field of the Lamb Hass variety, the group went to the farm of José Rafael Pons. Here, Vicente Puchol emphasised the importance of starting the fattening process in phase II of the fruit’s development. Using hormone-free biotechnological solutions for this purpose ensures a high internal quality of the fruit.
The route ended in another field belonging to José Rafael Pons. The Orri variety, due to its specific characteristics, requires a personalised fertilisation plan adapted to its biological cycle. The technical director of EDYPRO listed the details to be taken into account and shared his experience, which is giving results such as those that could be seen on this day.
