Success Of Biotechnology In The Tomato Crop
GREAT RESULTS IN A PLOT OF TOMATOES IN ALMERIA
In the production of field tomatoes, the correct configuration of the bouquet and the uniformity of the fruits (both size, the level of maturation and the number of fruits per branch) are the most important factors which values the market and consumers.
This autumn we found in a greenhouse the Juanita variety, from De Ruiter/MONSANTO, with a situation where the plant formed the branch with insufficient number of fruits. Therefore, the farmer risked of being put out of the market high demands.
With our biotechnology we intend to achieve the following objectives:
- To thicken the stem to be able to reach 10 kg/m2 (the farmer’s goal is 7-8 kg/m2).
- A higher number of fruits per branch (the market requirement has its minimum at 15 fruits/branch), that directly increases production and leaves the farmer more chances of success. EDYPRO‘s objective is to achieve bouquets of 20 fruits to have an average of more than 15 fruits per bouquet.
- To obtain bouquets with very uniform fruits of the highest quality and high caliber.
- To get the fruits ripened at the same time, facilitating the collection of the bouquet.
- To shorten the internodes to increase the number of bouquets per linear meter of plant.
- To increase the defenses of plant metabolism and that the plant responds adequately to environmental / climatic changes.
Undoubtedly, the most important moment in the production of these tomatoes is the setting process when the number of fruits, their configuration and the time that elapses between the setting of the first and the last fruit in the bouquet is determined, working with our biotechnology and stimulating the genes linked to the fruit set, fattening and maturation processes.
At the same time we remind you that, by inducing the plant to a high and constant rate of production through EDYPRO biotechnology, we have to ensure that its nutrition meets our requirements and that the assimilation of the nutrients provided is adequate.
With the continuous applications of the products COUPE REGENERACIÓN Plus, PROCUAJE RADICULAR and EDYFRUIT ENGORDE RADICULAR we have achieved the proposed objective and the results are shown in the following photos.
We can see how the fattening of the fruits is produced sequentially, as well as the maturation.
