Discover the benefits of summer fruit consumption

A good diet is based on the balance of nutrients we eat throughout the day. A very important part of these nutrients are found in fruit and vegetables, which provide essential vitamins and prevent many diseases.

In general, it is customary to eat them all year round, but it is advisable to take into account which fruits and vegetables should be eaten depending on the time of year. Therefore, at EDYPRO we would like to recommend fruits that you can eat during the sunniest and warmest season of the year, summer. In this season we highlight fruits with bright colours, sweet taste, refreshing and rich in water, to hydrate at any time of the day.

Why eat seasonal fruit?

When buying fruit, it is important to take into account the best time to eat it or the harvesting season in Spain for each fruit. It is not the same to eat a plum in July as in January, as it is preferable to eat it during the fruit’s own season. Although there are also other varieties that can be grown all year round without problems, such as bananas or vegetables such as tomatoes, lettuce or carrots, which are perfect for the summer season due to their high carotene and vitamin A content.

There is a habit of consuming them all year round, falling into products that are not seasonal or imported, but it is advisable to take into account which fruit and vegetables we should eat depending on the season. Another reason is purely ecological, since consuming it within its natural cycle avoids forced crops and promotes local production, as well as enjoying a better flavour and price, since, if they are grown in our country, the cost of transport is not applied to the price.

For all these reasons, at EDYPRO we recommend responsible food consumption, respecting the optimal seasons for each crop so that the benefits are not only nutritional or economic, but also for the environment, making proper use of natural resources.
