“Tip of sword” in cucumber

PROBLEM

In intensive crops, the result depends on the correct nutritional balance and water frequency, according to the needs of the crop.

In the following images we can see a cucumber crop in the autumn cycle, where potash and irrigation inputs were being abused to stop and correct the malformation of the fruits known as “sword point”.

The potash excess was blocking calcium and reducing the osmotic potential of the plant (ability to pump raw sap from the root system).

At the same time, the excessive water frequency had ended up decomposing the absorbent hairs of the roots, and had left the plant without the ability to hydrate and feed itself.

SOLUTION

  • First step: interrupt conventional fertilization in its entirety.
  • Second step: reduce the frequency of irrigation to irrigate only to the demand of the plant.

And start with root application;

Foliar application;

  • BOTCAR                                   3 L x 1000 L
  • ALGATRON                             2 L x 1000 L
  • ENRAIZANTE ESPECIAL 3 L x 1000 L
  • MELASTOP                              2 L x 1000 L

The weakness at the apex of the fruit was causing a significant attack of Mycosphaerella and the treatment with a single application has been able to radically cut the attack.

RESULT

Below are some images with the appearance of the crop after treatment:
