Red pepper tracking

Within the Citrus Surveillance Plan for this campaign and as in previous years, we have sent you the California Red Lice tracking data that we have obtained.

The maximum of sensitive forms (N1 + N2) is the optimum for the realization of a phytosanitary treatment. This is predictable if we follow the evolution of three variables: the evolution of California red lice stages in a given plot, the number of California red lice males caught on the same plot and the average of the thermal integrals for This species of the nearest municipalities. The evolution of the percentages of the stages of the red louse of California helps to determine the optimal moment of treatment (N1 + N2). The number of male catches helps to detect the maximum moment of flight and the time elapsed between this flight and the next generation will depend on the temperature, and therefore on the evolution of the thermal integral. The Thermal Integral indicates the number of degrees accumulated since January 1 of the current year, which exceed the development threshold temperature (for Aonidiella aurantii = 11.7 ºC); Is expressed as degrees-day, which are obtained as the difference between the mean temperature and the threshold temperature as long as the latter is exceeded and the value zero when the average temperature is lower than the threshold.

The current situation of California red lice in several representative locations of the citrus area of ??the Valencian Community is shown below. For this, it has been represented in each of the following locations:

1. The evolution of the percentages of California red lice stages.

2. The thermal Integral for A. aurantii as an average of those obtained in the Agroclimatic Stations closest to the stage tracking plot provided by the Department of Irrigation Technology of the Ministry.
