David Peña is a young agricultural engineer and farmer who continues with his father’s activity and farm in the Almeria countryside. This is the third generation that is linked to the land in his family. Today he tells us what his experience is with EDYPRO biotechnological solutions.
Tell us about your personal experience. What is your farm like, what type of crop do you work and where is it located?
I am the third generation dedicated to agriculture, so my family has been dedicated to this for as long as I can remember, and we are exclusively dedicated to growing tomatoes. I am an agricultural engineer and three years ago I started working with the family business.
We have 5 hectares in Almería under shelter and with a double roof. The weather conditions here are outstanding and for some time we have made a bet on varietal change of tomato; Cherry branch for Lobello, San Marzano tomato and Corazón de Buey, since these types of varieties are better paid.
What is your experience with EDYPRO biotech solutions?

By the type of cultivation, what are the EDYPRO biotechnological solutions that you use the most, and what results have you obtained?
PROCUAJE RADICULAR, gives us a lot of balance during the flowering process because there are times of the year when the cold affects the flowering. Besides to being Residue 0 product. We also use REVOLUTION, for the control of the whitefly.
COUPÉ REGENERACIÓN PLUS, we like it a lot because it helps to strengthen the root system and helps the plant to never lack of nutrients since in winter it always loses a little root and this biotechnological solution helps it.
And EDYFRUIT ENGORDE RADICULAR, since when you use it, after four or five days you already notice that the tomato fruit increases and has an impact on its quality. We also have EDYFOS on numerous occasions, which is an extra help for the plant in times of stress.
We are seeing how the market demands increasingly ecological agricultural products, with Residue 0 and only when it comes to quality products is it willing to pay for that quality. What is your experience in this regard?
Yes, there is a trend towards productions of higher quality, flavor and better appearance. I believe that if you give the market specialties and flavor, you can have a price plus and thus be able to continue investing in your business and innovating to keep the business competitive.
In addition to the result of EDYPRO solutions, what do you value in a company of its characteristics?

Well, with an immense joy because when they informed me I thought that it was not going to touch me, you know, because whenever you participate in this type of contest you think that there are very few possibilities but when they called me it was an immense joy.
The true is that it is a destination that rarely crosses your mind because it is very far away, but I am going to enjoy it a lot.
