EDYPRO presents its biotechnological solutions for rice cultivation at the XV Technical Conference of IRTA

The Valencian company explained how the use of biotechnology can improve fertility in saline soils.

EDYPRO participated on February 12 in the XV Technical Conference on Rice, organized by the Institute of Research and Agricultural Technologies (IRTA). It is a reference event for the sector that serves as a meeting point for technicians and rice farmers and offers the most relevant results of the technological developments carried out during the last campaigns.

The theme that EDYPRO exhibited during the Conference was the improvement of fertility in saline soils thanks to the use of biotechnology. The company supported his presentation with images and data of the results obtained in the field.

The saline lands, present in Europe on the Mediterranean coast of France, in the Ebro valley in Spain and in the Tajo delta in Portugal, cause various problems in the cultivation of cereals. The saline soils offer difficulties for the germination and instauration of the plants, it is a cause of the premature “death” of these and the loss of the radicular system, preventing the assimilation of the fertilizers.

The application to the rice crop of COUPÉ REGENERACIÓN Plus displaces the sodium ion from the soil, generating an optimum soil horizon for the germination and rootedness of the plants. In addition, its use replaces the basal fertilizer, achieving a drop in salinity. The electrical conductivity (CE) of the soil is determined by the concentration of salts existing in the clay-humic complex, from the sodium accumulated by capillarity and by the fertilizers provided that have passed to primary form. COUPÉ REGENERACIÓN Plus transforms these ions to assimilable form, endowing the cultivation of sufficient fertilizer quantity in the first stage of development.

Likewise, COUPÉ REGENERACIÓN Plus guarantees an optimal Carbon / Nitrogen (C / N) ratio, whose balance determines the productive potential of the soil in the cultivation of cereals. It also increases cation exchange, transforming nutrients available for the plant and making more efficient use of the fertilizers applied.

In conclusion, EDYPRO explained that the use of this biotechnological product increases the productive potential of the soil and prolongs the life cycle of the plant, especially in the final phase, facilitating the ripening of the spikes and reducing the percentage of empty grains.
