The situation generated in the economy, not only at the national level but in the world economy, has meant that during these months mobility and air transfers have been reduced due to COVID-19. Despite the fact that the de-escalation phase has already begun in many countries, is still uncertain in which exact phase each Autonomous Community of Spain will find itself in the next months when the vacation season starts.
In this sense, and since at EDYPRO we have always advocated for agriculture, this time we also do the same for local agritourism.
Agrotourism is a tourist modality whose purpose is to show the tourist the production process of agricultural establishments. And it consists of staying in rural areas, far from the big cities and in houses in these areas where their owners offer activities to interact with the agrarian and rural world.
Among this type of tourism we can find wine tourism, gastrotourism, ecological tourism or ecotourism, or oleotourism.
The Iberian Peninsula is very rich in terms of diversity of crops and landscapes and that is why this year agritourism can offer us many possibilities;
-Relaxation in contact with nature; This type of tourism provides us with oxygen, which is not only beneficial for plants but also for people. When traveling to rural areas the important thing is the disconnection with the routine, the stress generated by cities and electronic devices. In this way, the rural environment helps us to regain physical and psychological balance.
-Collect the fruit that you have been taking care of for days and take it directly from the tree, without intermediaries. This fact produces great satisfaction since you can be present in all the processes of caring for your crop or making some natural food in nearby farms.
-A wide variety of offers. Depending on the area we select in Spain, we can enjoy wine tourism, visit wineries, the entire process of winemaking, from harvesting to bottling, or oleotourism where we can visit oil mills, farmhouses or enjoy millers lunches. Or also if you are near the Almería area, enjoy its garden and the fertility of its land with an average of 3,000 hours of sunshine a year as well as savoring some of its typical crops such as tomatoes.
-Children learning in contact with nature. This is a magnificent experience for the little ones who can learn about the crops, the values of the environment and will feel appreciation and interest in caring for and respecting it. And in most cases they can water and care for their own crops.
-With agrotourism we help protect the environment and the sustainability of rural areas. This type of tourism has low environmental impact since most of the activities that are practiced in it seek interaction with the environment and its community, the protection and conservation of nature and its historical monuments and therefore its durability in the activity.
-Know new cultures. Agrotourism allows people who enjoy getting to know other cultures different from urban culture and therefore, acquire greater knowledge about our environment and other ways of life.
In EDYPRO in addition to advising on the best biotechnological treatments for your crops, thanks to our extense experience and knowledge of crops we can indicate some of the areas where agrotourism is developed in its purest form, such as Delta de l´Ebre, Almería, Sierra de Córdoba, Jaén, Ribera de Duero, La Rioja and its wineries, or the Murcian fields.
