More than 30 farmers and technicians from the province of Valencia and its surroundings have gathered at the citrus technical conference that the company dedicated to the study, development and production of biotechnological fertilizers. EDYPRO has organized these event with the aim of informing about cultural and biotechnology measures necessary to achieve a Premium production, both in low productive varieties –Orri, Oronules, Powel or Clemenules- as well as very productive ones –Nadorcott, Tango, Esbal or Sanguinelli.
Among these measures, in the low-productive the technical director and manager of EDYPRO, Vicente Puchol highlighted achieving a spectacular mixed budding with the right flowers and controlling fungal diseases, maintaining an optimal root system, ensuring fertilization and enhancing the sink effect, as well as achieving a high level of chlorophyll during spring and the entry of summer. Without forgetting, he stressed, the importance of starting fattening in Phase I and keeping it at peak in Phase II.
For the highly productive varieties, the technical director and manager of EDYPRO recalled the importance of mixed sprouting and the activity of the root syste. He also added the use of the fattening and thinning treatment of fruits without hormones at the beginning of the physiological fall when fuits start falling with calyx.
During this day, a study carried out with the application of the biotechnological solution, COUPÉ REGENERACIÓN PLUS, in fertile, poorer and intermediate-level lands was also presented. In the latter, showing an important result in terms of increasing the population of nitrogen-fixed bacteria (N) and beneficial fungi.
New biotechnological solution.
Another aspect highlighted by Vicente Puchol was spring pruning, a direct inhibitor of vegetative development in highly productive varieties. In the other term, pruning in summer after finishing the physiological fall has a double positive effect on highly productive varieties. On the one hand, it accentuates fattening and, on the other hand, the root system continues to pump at maximum power, he stressed.
This conference also served to present one of the company’s latest biotechnological solutions, GALILEO, to the numerous farmers and technicians attendees. It is a new generation product that is applied in a foliar way and acts on the cell wall membrane. Through its excellent aminogram it generates a high potential for constant vegetative activation. In this way, it has the capacity for perseverance in the cultivation activity in a standardized and uniform way. And thus “it achieves constant development, both at the vegetative level and in the caliber of the fruits”, detailed Vicente Puchol.
The fertilization and fattening phases were also cited as key in this process of generating the highest quality. Specifically, EDYFOS and FECUNDATOR were stood out for fertilization in low-yielding varieties. And for the fattening of highly productive varieties but lacking the right size, MAX QUALITY was presented as the mor accuarate solution.
Regarding the control of cryptogamic and endoparasitic diseases, EDYPRO placed special emphasis on how often these activities must be controlled and with what tools. And its CUPRO-PLUS MAX and ENDOFOSFITO solutions were highlighted.
This Citrus Conference took place at the Barraca de Toni Montoliu Restaurant located in the Valencian town of Meliana where typical and representative gastronomy of the l’horta area was tasted.
Likewise, it was preceded by the sensory tasting of Sanguinelli and Powel varieties, control and managed with EDYPRO biotechnology. Fruits have been chosen from trees with similar fertilization and irrigation, grown in the same area and the only variant was EDYPRO‘s biotechnological products. The technicians and farmers gave a 7 and 6.5 rating to the corresponding varieties managed in a conventional way (control), while they awarded 8.5 and 9.15 to those managed with the company’s biotechnology.
About control group of Sanguinelli variety, the attendees affirmed that it was a fruit “somewhat hard, acidic, very watery, with little pulp, high residue on the palate, bland, lack of balance and a lot of gut“. In contrast, they described as “low acidity, good flavor balance, good acid / sugar ratio, good color, little residue, more juice and quality“, the fruits handled with EDYPRO solutions.
For the control Powel variety, the adjectives were “acidic, coarse, lack of maturation, lack of sugar, lack of balance, less flavor and texture” and those belonging to the variety managed with biotechnology “sweet, juicy, tasty, with fine pulp, good sugar, want to repeat and good broth ”.
The Technical director and Manager of EDYPRO, Vicente Puchol, closed the fruit tasting saying; “in each annual cycle, the tree determines its survival bioprogramming process, which is determined by the water balance, optimal and balanced availability of nutrients, and the absence of diseases. The good harmony of these factors and therefore the culmination of its vegetative cycle and bioprogramming process directly increases its productive and vegetative potential. And from EDYPRO we offer our experience and knowledge for this purpose. Our citrus industry must be valued in Europe for quality, not for price ”.
